Free pop-up animal clinic helps dozens

A free animal clinic on Saturday gave pet owners resources to protect their furry friends.

CHAPIN, S.C. — A pop-up animal clinic on Saturday brought dozens to Chapin for free services to help their pets.

At the clinic, multiple doctors and volunteers offered physicals, medications, antibiotics and testing to pets of families in need.

Jessica Graham spearheaded the effort with help from the Street Dog Coalition, which works to offer free pet care nation-wide.

“I just feel like it’s a need, you know?” Graham said. “I see a lot of people working in the veterinarian area, but they just don’t have the money to take care of their pets, so, by the time I get to see them in the clinic there’s nothing they can do… so I knew this was something that was needed.”

Katherine Fay says she’s been out of work for several weeks, making Saturday’s service very meaningful.

“They truly are like our family,” Fay said. “This is just really phenomenal and I am very grateful for it.”

Graham says she hopes to have more free clinics in the future.
