ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) - Funding is now in place for a pedestrian bridge that will be built over a busy 6-lane street by the campus of South Carolina State University in Orangeburg.
The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg reports (http://bit.ly/1h67MFb ) that Orangeburg County has approved the last $500,000 so the state Department of Transportation can begin work on the nearly $4 million project.
Officials say it will make it safer for students to cross the busy road.
The bridge will have two towers and the university logo. It will have ramps leading up on each side so it can accommodate wheelchairs.
