COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Gov. Nikki Haley's latest TV ad touts a Department of Social Services program that aims to move people off welfare rolls by helping them find jobs.
Haley says her administration has moved 20,000 South Carolinians from welfare to work. The 30-second ad running statewide is the campaign's third this election cycle. It features Paula Martin of Spartanburg, who credits Haley's program with helping her.
Haley's campaign says Martin began working at a Kangaroo gas station last November and now works at the Adidas distribution center.
The ad never mentions the Department of Social Services. It follows months of state Senate hearings on accusations that the agency's emphasis on better numbers endangered children.
Ads supporting Haley's Democratic opponent, state Sen. Vincent Sheheen, and petition candidate Tom Ervin have criticized DSS.
