Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Most lanes of Interstate 77 South near Garners Ferry Road are blocked, as crews respond to a fatal accident.
The incident is near the nine mile marker, between the Fort Jackson and Garners Ferry exits.
The Highway Patrol says the crash happened just after 6 a.m. when an SUV crashed, ejected one person inside the vehicle. That person was pronounced dead soon afterward by emergency personnel.
Traffic cameras show an extensive backup in that area. Drivers should seek an alternate route.
