BISHOPVILLE, S.C. — It's been seven months of searching for a missing man in Bishopville. We first brought you this story in April when Willis Frierson disappeared. On Saturday, his family held a prayer vigil, calling on the community and law enforcement for answers.
"Benjay with an 'a,' not an 'i' 'cause he didn't want to be referenced to the dog," Marquez Cain said.
It's going on seven months since the last time Marquez Cain saw his father, Willis Frierson. He said Frierson was first reported missing on April 30.
"As of right now, there's been no leads; haven't had any physical evidence. Everything's still the same; it's just a missing persons case," he said.
The family said that law enforcement does not have any leads. Community and family members, like Belinda Hay, still have questions; she said she's taking hers to a higher power.
"Really need some answers, you know, as to what happened to my cousin, and we are taking to the throne; we're going to pray on it and just hope we get some answers," Hay said.
To encourage continued search efforts for Frierson, his family held a prayer vigil Saturday on the eve of his 65th birthday, Nov. 18. The family reflected on the man they'd been missing since April.
"He probably wouldn't meet a stranger anywhere in Bishopville or the next county over or the next state over," Cain said.
"Everybody knew him. Peace-loving guy, everybody - 'Benji,' you say 'Benji' and people be like, 'Oh yeah, I know him,'" Hay said.
The family is offering a $3,000 reward for anyone who can provide a viable lead to what happened in Frierson's disappearance. Anyone with information that could help in this case should contact the Lee County Sheriff's Office.
