Aiken, SC (WLTX) - Authorities are investigating the disappearance of a domesticated mountain lion from a business on Richland Avenue West in Aiken.
Lt, Jake Mahoney with the Aiken Department of Public Safety said officers responded to Aquarium Pets and were notified that a pet mountain lion was missing from the location.
The animal is described as black in color, weighing approximately 100 pounds, and three feet tall. The mountain lion was wearing a dog harness when it was last seen.
The owner told officers that the animal has been declawed.
People are advised to not approach the mountain lion and to call 911 if they come in contact with the animal.
The circumstances of the disappearance are still under investigation.
The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources has been notified about the situation.
