COLUMBIA, S.C. — The Lexington County Sheriff's Department is investigating after they say a body was found in a pond near the Harbison area.
Officers said the discovery was made late Tuesday afternoon in the 200 block of Crossbow Drive. That's not far from Columbiana Drive which runs off Harbison Boulevard.
Deputies said detectives and dive team members were dispatched to the scene and neighbors should expect to see sheriff's department personnel and vehicles in the area for much of the evening.
Officers did not say if they have any indication how the person may have died or how they were alerted to the body's presence.
