LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities are investigating after a man was found deceased at the Lexington County Amazon campus on Wednesday afternoon. The man was identified by authorities on Thursday evening.
The man has been identified as 19-year-old Jerrold George Dejean of Gaston, according to the Lexington County Coroner's Office. Dejean had been reported missing on November 30 in Lexington County, authorities said.
Lexington County deputies said they were called there after there were reports that a body had been seen in a retention pond at the facility, which is located on the 12th Street Extension. Detectives and crime scene investigators were sent to to the scene to begin looking into the matter.
Deputies said Amazon officials coordinated with them to secure the scene.
The coroner's office said that the cause and manner of death are still under investigation. An autopsy has been scheduled at MUSC in Charleston on December 15, 2023, at 11:30 a.m., according to authorities.
