Body of Missing 3-year-old NC Girl Found, Investigators Believe

ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. -- Investigators say they have recovered the body believed to be the missing three-year-old North Carolina girl.

According to the FBI, the body believed to be of Mariah Woods was found in a creek in Pender County.

The FBI said they are awaiting results from the medical examiner's office for positive confirmation.

The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI took 32-year-old Earl Kimrey into custody on Friday. He's believed to be the live-in boyfriend of Mariah Woods' mother, and one of the last people to have seen the little girl who was reported missing Monday.

Earlier Saturday evening, authorities said the missing child's case has shifted to a homicide case.

Newly released warrants from the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office indicate that Kimery 'allegedly knowingly concealed the unnatural death of Mariah Woods, and secretly hid the child's body.

Kimrey is charged with Concealing of Death, Obstruction of Justice, 2nd-Degree Burglary, Felony Larceny and Possession of Stolen Property.

According to the arrest warrant, Kimerly stole two dressers from a home on the 700 block of High Hill Road in Jacksonville, N.C.

He's being held in the Onslow County Detention Center under a $1,010,000 bond.

The district attorney said additional charges could be pending.
