COLUMBIA, S.C. — Lego lovers throughout the land gathered at the State Fairgrounds for the traveling Brick Fest Live exhibit.

Attendees observed life-sized Lego models, played in Lego pits, created glow-in-the-dark Lego structures, raced Lego cars, helped build a setting mosaic and more.

Lego Master Manny Garcia said this traveling experience is for the whole family.

“We’re here to motivate and inspire future Lego builders," said Garcia. "Lego is a toy for kids but at the same time there are adults that are fans including myself and my dad and it’s just a great weekend for us to give good memories to families and kids.”

Manager Julius Funches said attendees could leave their mark on the exhibit.

“So it’s really cool that Brick Fest Live has a lot of attractions where not only you can be interactive but kids can also showcase their artistic skills," said Funches. "I like to say a lot of Lego fans are some of our future designers and our future architects.”

Shandease Haygood brought her nephew Sean and said it was a great experience.

“It makes you try to challenge your mind as well with the different things you’re trying to do,” said Haygood. “We’re so quick on our kids to tell them to hurry up and do stuff now he’s leaving me and I’m trying to catch up so it defiantly takes you back to having those fun moments as a child.”

Youtuber Nathan lives in Columbia. He attended a brick fest in the past, which inspired him to create his own version of Hogwarts made from Legos.

This year, he can showcase his work in his hometown. He said this is a great opportunity.

“I think it's really good to show what local people can do cause you see all these things on T.V., people doing cool things, and you don’t realize how close it is to you and how you could do things just like it," said Nathan. "A lot of people really like it and they love all the detail and stuff and appreciate it a lot.”

Brick Fest Live will return to the Palmetto State at the Charleston Area Convention Center in October.
