On August 3, 2024, Irmo officers say they responded to a residence in the New Friarsgate Subdivision for a shooting.

IRMO, S.C. — A Chapin man is behind bars after a shooting in Irmo earlier this month.

On August 3, 2024, Irmo officers say they responded to a residence in the New Friarsgate Subdivision for a shooting. Although two houses and one car were struck by gunfire, no one was injured.

Maurice T. McQuire, 20, of Chapin, SC, who is charged with four counts of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, was taken into custody on Friday, August 16, 2024,

Police say McQuire was transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, where he was subsequently denied bond.

“We are very fortunate that nobody was hit during this incident,” Irmo Police Chief Bobby Dale said. “To commit this act in broad daylight in a neighborhood shows just how reckless and dangerous McQuire is. I am proud of the work our investigators put in to have McQuire jailed and thankful that his bond was denied.”
