Chick-fil-A set to debut first elevated drive-thru concept south of Atlanta

Chick-fil-A has said the elevated drive-thru concept will expedite service with four lanes and a "sophisticated conveyer belt system."

HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — Chick-fil-A is set to debut its first elevated drive-thru concept at a restaurant south of Atlanta, the company said Wednesday.

The Chick-fil-A at 2155 Jodeco Road in Henry County will begin serving guests on Thursday, August 22. IT will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Saturday.

Chick-fil-A has said the elevated drive-thru concept will expedite service with four lanes and a "sophisticated conveyer belt system that streamlines food delivery by quickly moving the meal from the elevated kitchen above to a Team Member on the ground below."

The concept, the company says, allows for a meal to be delivered to a team member on the ground every six seconds. The four-lane concept, according to a release, also will support two-to-three times more vehicle traffic than a standard drive-thru.

“Our Guests lead busy lives, and we’re focused on designing our restaurants to best serve their needs,” Jonathan Reed, Executive Director of Design for Chick-fil-A, said in a statement. “With the new Elevated Drive-Thru design, featuring our first four lane drive-thru, we're aiming to deliver quality food and genuine hospitality in a way that’s uniquely Chick-fil-A, and gives our Guests time back in their day.”

Chick-fil-A announced the elevated drive-thru concept last year, one of two new concepts meant to cater to on-the-go customers.

“Digital orders make up more than half of total sales in some markets – and growing – so we know our customers have an appetite for convenience,” said Khalilah Cooper, executive director, restaurant design, said in a statement at that time. “Understanding this desire for convenience, the locations for these tests were intentionally selected with the customers in mind, giving them more control over their desired experience and cutting down wait-time, while continuing to provide genuine hospitality and care to every guest.”
