Columbia Housing updates finances, housing projects, and approves a vision plan

Columbia Housing says they are working with what they have to continue housing projects in 2024.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Columbia Housing discussed its yearly audit in a meeting Thursday along with several other projects that are in the works as they approach their budget season.

Auditors announced at the beginning of the meeting, they found a "clean bill of health" in terms of finances for Columbia Housing for the 2022-23 fiscal year which puts them in good standing for the upcoming next budget.

For the end of the fiscal year, Columbia Housing Executive Director Yvonda Bean says the organization has what it needs.

"For the end of the month in January total revenues of $20,871,924, and our total expenses were $14,376,770, leaving us with a net income of $6,495,154," Bean explained.

The new fiscal year budget starts July 1.  As the commissioners work to find funds, Bean says they will work with what they have to complete various housing projects.

"Oaks at Saint Anna's Park is at about 35% completion for construction, and then the Haven at Palmer Pointe Pointe is about 20%," Bean stated.

The board also approved the Vision 2030 Plan. This plan will guide the direction of the organization in its goals, and its real estate portfolio up until 2030.

The Haven at Palmer Pointe is expected to be completed by the end of May 2024, Oak Terrace is expected by April 2024, and Oak Park is projected to be done by August of this year. However, due to backlogs and worker shortages, this work may take a bit longer than expected for each project to be completed.
