Stabbing under investigation in Columbia near Main Street, Elmwood Avenue

Authorities are still piecing together what happened and where it occurred.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Authorities say a person has been taken to the hospital following a reported stabbing in Columbia.

A spokesperson for the Columbia Police Department said officers responded to the area of Elmwood Avenue and Main Street around 6 p.m., where they found a person with a stab wound. The person was taken to an area hospital for treatment, and police said they didn't believe the wound was life-threatening.

Police don't yet know if the stabbing occurred at the location or somewhere else and intend to speak with the victim at the hospital to gather additional details.
