COLUMBIA, S.C. — Congressman Joe Wilson was taken to the hospital Wednesday evening after becoming ill according to his X account.
Wilson was at an event in Washington D.C. when he took ill and was transported to a local hospital.
No details yet, WLTX has reached out to his office for further clarification.
His son, Attorney General Alan Wilson posted on X, "I just spoke to my mom who is currently at the hospital with my father. Doctors have confirmed to us that he has experienced stroke-like symptoms. I was able to speak with him moments ago and I am incredibly thankful that he is stable and being monitored by medical professionals."
Wilson was an SC Senator before he was elected to Congress in 2001. He is a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
He is married to Roxanne and has four sons.
