SOUTH COLUMBIA, Columbia — The Republican National Convention (RNC) marches into day 3 tonight, and after Senator Tim Scott and Nikki Haley both gave speeches.
Wednesday night another notable South Carolinian will be taking the stage.
Congresswoman Nancy Mace has been tapped to speak during primetime but ahead of the speech, she spoke to News 19’s Andrea Mock.
After the assassination attempt on former President Trump, Mace, who sits on the House Oversight Committee, she says they will be meeting with Secret Service on Monday to ask questions about the security breach that led to the former president being shot on Saturday.
Mace said, “While I want to reserve judgement until I get the facts, there’s information that’s trickling out. For example, the building that the shooter crawled up on was never swept, in fact law enforcement used it as a staging area. How did this happen? Also many of us have seen the videos of the witnesses saying they saw the shooter, and no one did anything. Secret Service has delayed our briefings and we need answers."
When asked about her speech to the RNC Mace said, “The theme is making America Strong again. So we will discuss our military, China’s aggression towards America, and how Donald Trump will keep our country safe. Also South Carolina is home to so many military members, active duty and retired. We train Marines in Parris Island. These are all things we should be enormously proud of."
Mace was once critical of Trump after the January 6th attack on the capital. However, she came out and endorsed the former President instead of Nikki Haley.
Now she has said publicly she believed Trump is the best choice to calm violence overseas and strengthen our miliary.
