A local couple is devastated after their 8-year-old toy poodle, Teddy, was taken Wednesday evening.

“He is the greatest joy of my life, and I don’t know how to go on without him,” said Alexandra Villarreal, Teddy's owner.

Villarreal says she is heartbroken after her dog Teddy escaped from the backyard of her home on the 300 block of Elmhurst Avenue near Broadway Road. Teddy was in the backyard with Alexandra's partner, John Conover, when he got out.

“Probably about 15 to 30 minutes went by and Ali came home and we were looking for him. We were running the neighborhood looking for him, running everywhere, crying,” said Conover.

A neighbor just a few doors down found Teddy and posted him on the Ring Door App.

“Then a random stranger, responded, saying that they would take him and watch him, while our neighbor waited for for us to find him. Basically within 30 minutes, our neighbor had given up our dog to this stranger,” said Conover.

Ring camera video provided to us by the homeowner who found Teddy shows a man with a white baseball cap in a four-door black sedan taking Teddy from the neighbor.

The neighbor says the man told him he would keep in touch so that once the owners were found he could return Teddy. The neighbor says he provided a number, but they have not been able to get ahold of him.

Once we caught wind of it, we were posting on this Ring app. We were posting all over Facebook. We were texting this number. We were trying to get in contact with them however we could,”  said Conover.

Teddy's owners have contacted San Antonio Police and they say they are investigating this as a theft. The couple says they don't want to press charges, they just want Teddy back and are offering a $3,000 reward.

“Please bring him back. We miss him. We love him. He is a very sick dog. He's eight years old, so he is older and he has seizures and has to take medication three times a day,” said Villarreal.

Alexandra says Teddy's seizures can be deadly if he doesn't get his medication. Teddy is microchipped and has been reported missing.

Teddy is a red/brown toy poodle, and is about five to six pounds with a missing front tooth.

“I just want him back and safe and healthy and in our arms so that we can move on with our lives. It's our family,” said Villarreal.

If you have any information about Teddy, you can contact Alexandra or John. They are offering a $3,000 reward with no questions asked.  You can contact them at 361-960-0308.
