The Columbia Fire Department says it is on the scene of an apartment fire off of Broad River Road.
CFD says all hands responded to a 2-alarm fire Sunday morning at Briargate Apartments on Old Manor Road, off of Broad River Road in Columbia. Officials say the fire spread to approximately 12 apartments in building 14.
At around 1:40 p.m. Sunday, CFD said it had released the 2nd alarm crews. However, crews remained on scene to fight hot spots and assist the Richland County fire marshal with the investigation.
No injuries are reported at this time.
The American Red Cross says it will be assisting approximately 8 families that need lodging and other disaster assistance.
Today's fire is the second reported at the apartment complex in a little over a month. A fire on January 28 displaced 12 residents at the complex.
