COLUMBIA, S.C. — Richland County deputies are reminding residents to lock their car doors after a rash of car break-ins over the weekend.
This past weekend, in northwest Richland County alone, deputies say they responded to 7 car break-ins and 2 stolen vehicles. In almost all 9 cases, deputies say the vehicles were unlocked.
Deputies are asking residents to protect themselves and their belongings by doing these simple things:
- Remove keys from your car;
- Remove valuable items;
- Remove firearms; and
- Lock your car doors.
