Ex-Head Nurse Administrator at S.C. Prison Accused of Smuggling Contraband

The former head nurse administrator at a S.C. prison was arrested on June 6.

Columbia, SC (WLTX) — The former head nurse administrator at Lee Correctional Institution has been arrested for attempting to furnish a prisoner with contraband, according to the S.C. Department of Corrections.

Patricia M. Montgomery, a registered nurse and former head nurse administrator at the facility, was arrested on June 6. According to the arrest warrant. Montgomery took two new men's watches into the prison. The warrant also indicates she had two large packages of tobacco wrapped in condoms in her car on prison property.

The watches were found after a routine search of Montgomery after she entered into the prison, according to corrections officials. The tobacco was located after a search of her vehicle on the property.

Montgomery had been employed by the prison for almost a year.
