The company also confirmed it will be closing distribution centers in Florence and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. — A Global company will be closing a Midlands distribution center in September, impacting more than 100 jobs in West Columbia.

FedEx confirmed to WLTX that it will close its West Columbia distribution center, located at 150 Queen Parkway, on Sept 3 of this year.

The company also confirmed it will be closing distribution centers in Florence and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

In a statement released to News 19, officials with FedEx said:

“FedEx regularly evaluates its network and makes adjustments to align with the evolving needs of the business. We recently informed employees that FedEx facilities in Myrtle Beach, Florence, and Columbia will close later this year and certain team members will be offered opportunities at other nearby FedEx locations.

Decisions of this nature are never made lightly, and are the result of much thought and consideration for the needs of our business. Affected team members were notified several months before any changes take place, and are receiving assistance with finding other employment opportunities within the company, including additional support options like relocation assistance or severance where applicable.”
