West Columbia, SC (WLTX) - A fire has heavily damaged a West Columbia business.
Thick smoke could be seen coming from a small structure that housed a thrift store called 'Lets Just Plunder' just off Meeting Street.
No injures have been reported and no word yet on cause of fire. The building and contents are a total loss according to West Columbia Fire.
Crews from West Columbia, Irmo, Cayce, Richland, Lexington county responded to get the blaze under control. The reason for so many units is because of the heat and humidity. With the heavy gear that fire fighters wear in August's heat and humidity, this allows for fire fighters to be rotated with no one working too long in the heat.
Drivers were being asked to avoid the intersection of Meeting Street and 12th Street, but that restriction has now been lifted.
