Richland County house fire causes significant damage, firefighters treated on scene

Officials said the only occupants at the time, a person and a pet, made it out of the house safely.

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — Two firefighters had to be checked out but are OK after an intense house fire in Richland County on Sunday night.

According to the Columbia-Richland Fire Department, crews responded to the 400 block of Oak Manner Drive off Clemson Road just before 9 p.m. The first on the scene saw smoke already showing from the home. The fire eventually spread into the attic before breaking through the roof.

Fire crews managed to bring the fire under control but said the home suffered significant damage. Officials said the only occupants at the time, a person and a pet, made it out of the house safely. Two firefighters were checked for injuries, but a spokesperson said both were cleared and could return to service.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
