Columbia, SC (WLTX)- The next time you drive under the Blossom Street train trestle, you may notice something different.
It now bears the name "Five Points" across the front and back of the trestle. The face-lift is part of a three-and-a-half-year beautification project for the area.
Not only is there a new name, but the bushes near the train trestle have also been trimmed back.
There have been mixed feelings about the project on social media — some saying it is too plain.
But there is reason for that. The Five Points Association tells us they wanted to keep the design low-key as not to distract drivers. Also, the railroad company was very specific about what they could or could not do on the trestle.
This is the final phase of the beautification project.
The Five Points Association tells us most of the funding came from Richland County Council.
