WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. — With the holiday season kicking off, families began to head out for some Christmas tree shopping.
“We almost always come the day after Thanksgiving as a family, the kids can kind of run around a little bit and it’s just a good place,” Lindsay Harmon said.
Harmon and her family have been tree shopping at the SC State Farmers Market for years, and they say that picking out a tree can be a challenge sometimes.
"It takes a while it's kind of like picking paint colors...it takes about 30 minutes, we land the plane and then we move on," Brian Harmon said.
Jamie Spell from Pate's Tree Farm says they can help families decide on trees and prep and load them for customers to take home.
“It’s a good time of the year. everybody’s got to have one. it's a good family atmosphere, it’s just enjoyable. we only get to do this one time of year,” he said.
While some families like the Harmons do this every year, others are getting their real Christmas tree for the first time, and vendors say it’s worth the switch.
“Come on out and try it, you’ll love it. there’s nothing like a real Christmas tree,” Spell said.
Vendors say they will be selling trees until mid-December or while supplies last.
