A Charlotte newspaper is reporting that Carowinds plans to drop its ticket prices for the first time since opening in 1973.

(Fort Mill) - A Charlotte newspaper is reporting that Carowinds plans to drop its ticket prices for the first time since opening in 1973.The drop in single-day ticket prices is the first major move by Carowinds' new owner, which bought Carowinds and four other parks in June from Paramount for more than $1 billion.General manager John Shanrock says the reduction is part of a strategy to attract more visitors and highlight the park's entertainment value.A regular one-day ticket will cost $44.95, down five dollars from last year. A junior/senior ticket drops $13 to $19.95. Those tickets are available to those less than four feet tall and to everyone 62 or older.Season pass prices are $69.95, up ten dollars from last year.
