Despite an outcry from students and parents, the Monroe school district north of Cincinnati has no plans to change the policy.
Monroe High School cheerleaders have had a tradition of wearing the outfits to school on Fridays prior to football games. But earlier this year, the district clarified a dress code and said all skirts worn during school hours must be no shorter than 3 inches above the knees.
Cheerleaders were told last week that their slit-sided miniskirts would violate the policy unless the girls wore leggings or long shorts under the skirts.
Tammy Ihle, whose daughter is a cheerleader, says it's unfair that the girls can wear the outfits for football games and pep rallies but not during classes.
