Stephen Colbert receives key to city of Columbia

The host of "The Colbert Report", which airs on Comedy Central, recently announced that he would be running for president in 2008 but only in South Carolina.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Mayor Bob Coble proclaimed today "Stephen Colbert Day" in the City of Columbia.

Mayor Coble presented the South Carolina native with a key to the city and named Colbert "South Carolina's favorite son.

The host of "The Colbert Report", which airs on Comedy Central, recently announced that he would be running for president in 2008 but only in South Carolina.

His plan is to run on both the Republican and Democratic tickets. Colbert was honored to receive the key to the city and says he "loves South Carolina, almost as much as South Carolina loves" him. 

Colbert also says that if he is elected as president, he promises not only to crush the state of Georgia but also Tennessee. 

His promise comes on the heels of Carolina's 27-24 loss to the Volunteers. His final words of wisdom Sunday morning made the crowd cheer. "Go Cocks!"
