RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — One person is dead following a crash in Lower Richland County that occurred between two vehicles.
Master Trooper William Bennett with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the collision took place on September 15 at 4:50 p.m. on Garners Ferry Road near the intersection of Congaree Road, about six miles west of Columbia.
According to Bennett, a SUV was traveling east on Garners Ferry Road while a sedan was traveling north on Congaree Road. Trooper said the sedan attempted to turn left onto Garners Ferry and was struck by the SUV.
The driver of the sedan was taken to Prisma Health Richland Hospital. where troopers said the person died a day later as a result of the their injuries. The other driver was not hospitalized.
The coroner's office has not yet identified the person who died in the collision.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
