Home Team BBQ Coming to Old Harper's Location in Five Points

Over the next several months, the former Harper's restaurant at 700 Harden Street will be transformed into the iconic barbecue joint, slated to open in the winter of 2018-2019.

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - A trip to the coast is no longer essential for Midlands lovers of Home Team BBQ — a short drive to Five Points is all you'll need.

Over the next several months, the former Harper's restaurant at 700 Harden Street will be transformed into the iconic barbecue joint, slated to open in the winter of 2018-2019.

Established in Charleston in 2006, Home Team BBQ already has four locations; three in Charleston and one in Aspen, Colorado. The fifth location in Columbia will mark the restaurant's largest one yet at 6,500 square feet. While decor will resemble its other locations, the Five Points restaurant will also have it's own unique elements.

“More than anything, we look forward to contributing to the Columbia community, and embracing the spirit of the city that makes it such an interesting, unique place as both a college town and our state’s capital,” says chef/pitmaster and operating partner Aaron Siegel. “We’re excited for the opportunity to become a part of the landscape here, and to support and serve Columbia’s residents as best we can. Harper’s was a family-friendly institution in Columbia for the last 27 years, and we hope to continue that legacy of service.”

Covering all it's bases, the Five Points Home Team BBQ will offer brunch, lunch, dinner and even late-night service for all the night owls for its indoor and outdoor dining. Large parties can also take advantage of the restaurant's full-service catering and to-go ordering.

Dinner with a show may be available as live music and entertainment become a possibility down the road.
