Irmo Postal Carrier Saves Woman's LIfe

An Irmo Postal worker is the reason why one midlands woman survived a diabetic shock
Kendra Miller

IRMO, SC-- Kendra Miller is a US Postal worker in Lexington County.

She says she's never noticed anything abnormal on her route, until last Friday when she drove up on a woman slumped over in her car.

"I was kind of nervous because she was on the wrong side of the road parked and she looked like she had been sleeping", said Miller.

Miller had finished her route and was headed back to the post office when she noticed a car stopped on Shady Grove Road.

" I beat on the window trying to wake her up. and she lifted her head up and went back down and then I knew something was wrong so I immediately called 911", said Miller.

She says the woman didn't have enough strength to unlock the door. Soon after her call to 911, emergency crews arrived.

" They got in the vehicle and got her out. Her blood sugar had dropped she was a diabetic", said Miller.

" They let me know that she was okay being a diabetic. They were able to help her during that time. you know I kind of felt better about that situation", said Miller.

The fire chief helped miller find the woman's phone so they could call her family.

"They said they had been looking for her, wondering where she was at and I told them that I had found her on the side of the road and she explained that she was diabetic and had insulin in her pocket book and stuff so yea I got in touch with them and she got in touch with the husband", said Miller.

Miller says she doesn't know how long the woman had been on the road

" I don't think that I am a hero because like I said, I would want someone to do it for me or somebody in my family. I mean I know she had kids and stuff like that so you know you do the right thing as a person", said Miller.
