Local middle school student competing for national gospel award

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A local middle school student is competing for a national gospel award, and she needs your vote!

For the third consecutive year, Richland School District Two student Alana Inez Wilson is competing for a national gospel recording artist award. She has been nominated in the 38th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards

Alana, who uses the stage name of Alana Inez, received her first nomination while a fourth grader at Rice Creek Elementary School of Academics, Innovation and Leadership (SAiL). She is now a sixth grader at Kelly Mill Med Pro Middle School. 

Alana is in the finals for Youth Project of the Year. Her album, Minor In A Major World, is in Category 25.

Alana’s parents, Sean and Laura Johnson, both musicians themselves and employees of Richland Two, are encouraging everyone to vote for Alana beginning Monday, April 17th on the Stellar Awards website.

Votes will determine the projects that move on to become the Stellar Award winners. 

Open voting for the public begins begins April 17 and runs through April 24.  

You may vote for one artist in each of the categories. Three votes per household are allowed. Voting ends on Monday, April 24.  

The awards ceremony will be held July 15, 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
