SUMTER, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina foundation's collection of antique furnishings once shown at Kensington Mansion in Eastover is being sent to museums in Seneca and Columbia.
Executive Director Rickie Good of the Scarborough-Hamer Foundation told The Sumter Item that the collection of furniture, glass, porcelain, art and books will be displayed at a historic house and a museum in Seneca.
Good says the collection's photographs and archives are going to the South Caroliniana Library. Some items are going to the South Carolina State Museum. He says the collection has been in storage since the 1854 plantation house in Eastover was damaged in a 2014 ice storm.
The foundation cares for the collection, assembled by South Carolina families in the late 19th and early 20th Century.
