IRMO, S.C. — UPDATE: Authorities release new details following heavy police presence in Irmo area on Thursday
RICHLAND COUNTY. S.C. -- A large law enforcement presence was in an Irmo neighborhood Thursday afternoon into the evening.
According to a spokesperson with the Richland County Sheriff's Department, law enforcement was looking for a suspect they now say is not a threat to the Farming Creek Road area community.
The Richland County Sheriff's Department, Lexington Sheriff's Department, and the Irmo Police Department were involved in the search. A South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) helicopter was in the air at one point, and a K-9 was deployed to the scene.
Law enforcement has not yet said why they were searching for the man or whether charges would be filed.
