Long Island Medium coming to Columbia

Long Island Medium Theresa Caputo is coming in October for one night only.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Have you ever wanted to talk to someone who isn't here anymore? Not just someone who has moved away but someone dead.

Theresa Caputo, also known as the Long Island Medium, is coming to the Koger Center for a night called “Theresa Caputo Live: The Experience” on Oct. 22.

Caputo is the star of the new Lifetime series "Raising Spirits."

Ahead of her event, Caputo sat down with News19’s Andrea Mock to discuss her work. Caputo said that she knew she was different from a young age.

“I told my mom, I don’t think I fit in. I’m different than everyone else!” she said.

Caputo said she realized in her early 20s that she was getting clear messages from beyond. She would walk into a room and see spirits or hear a message they wanted to pass on to loved ones.

She believes her life’s mission is to connect these messages to those still in what she calls “the physical world.”

With a show, “Long Island Medium,” on TLC and now her new show, most people have heard her name. Theresa said she doesn’t care who believes in her or not.

“Listen, I’m not bothering the dead; they are bothering me," she said. "And if you don’t believe, that’s fine. But if someone has a message for a loved one, and that message might bring them peace or comfort, then I need to pass it on.”

But can she turn this gift off?

“No, I can’t. I don’t sleep very well," Caputo said. "Often, I’m visited by spirit when I’m trying to sleep. I can’t silence them, but I do try to take care of myself and rest as much as I can. But sometimes, the person who has crossed over is so persistent that I have to find their loved one, and share the message.”

You can buy tickets to her show at the Koger Center here.
