COLUMBIA, S.C. — An arrest has been made after a bank robbery in Columbia last week.

Richland County Sheriff Sheriff Leon Lott on Tuesday announced the arrest of 39-year-old Willie Lee Moses II on October 21, 2024.

On October 15, 2024, at approximately 10 am, deputies responded to First Citizens Bank at 7039 Parklane Rd. in reference to an armed robbery. Deputies were advised that a man, later identified as Moses, walked into the bank and presented a handwritten note to the teller stating an armed robbery and demanded money. Moses left the bank with money before deputies arrived.

Investigators say they identified Moses based on a previous investigation involving Moses. Once he was identified, investigators took out a warrant on Moses for the bank robbery.

On October 19, 2024, just after 9 am, deputies responded to a civil disturbance on Zimalcrest Drive. Upon their arrival, deputies identified the suspect who was creating a disturbance as Willie Moses.

Moses was taken into custody and booked at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

Moses is charged with entering a bank with intent to steal and, in reference to the incident on October 19, Moses is charged with possession of meth or cocaine base less than one gram.
