One dead, two injured after man eluding law enforcement crashes into car

The incident happened around 5:13 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, at the intersection of Moncks Corner Road and Miracle Drive.

EUTAWVILLE, S.C. — One person is dead and two were injured after a suspect attempted to elude law enforcement in Orangeburg County on Thursday, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The incident happened around 5:13 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, at the intersection of Moncks Corner Road and Miracle Drive.

Troopers say the driver of a 2012 Nissan SUV was traveling south on Moncks Corner Road while attempting to elude law enforcement when the SUV collided with a 2000 Honda sedan traveling east on Miracle Drive.

The driver of the Honda sedan died from injuries sustained in the collision. A passenger in the car was transported to a local hospital.

The driver of the Nissan SUV ran away on foot and was later apprehended by law enforcement. A passenger in the SUV was transported to a local hospital.

The driver of the SUV, 33-year-old Dovontae Jenkins of Eutawville, is charged with hit-and-run involving death and hit-and-run involving great bodily injury.
