Man Who Drowned in Lake Murray Identified

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher identified the man who drowned in Lake Murray on Saturday as 76-year-old Ramon Priestino.

Lexington County, SC (WLTX) -- The Lexington County Coroner has identified the man who died in Lake Murray Saturday afternoon.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher identified the victim as 76-year-old Ramon Priestino. Fisher said Priestino was swimming with his family in the Palm Point Drive area, near where he lived, around 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Captain Adam Myrick with the Lexington County Sheriff's Department said family and friends were enjoying a day on Lake Murray, when one of the individuals went under the water and did not come back up. He called the drowning was "very tragic, very unfortunate, an accident truly."

Myrick said the Lexington County Sheriff's Department, the Richland County Sheriff's Department, Irmo Fire Department, and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources all responded to the drowning.

The Lexington County Sheriff's Department and SCDNR continue to investigate. An autopsy is schedule on Priestino for Sunday.
