A new Margaritaville resort is coming to Galveston. Here's what it'll look like.

Construction is expected to be completed between 2026 and 2028.

GALVESTON, Texas — We heard it was coming and now it’s official. A new Margaritaville resort will open up in Galveston -- in a $250 million venture.

The resort, which will be at 317 East Beach Drive, will be a 300,000-square-foot development with 334 rooms, an elevated water park, beach access, and four restaurants. There will also be a lazy river, pickleball courts, a family entertainment center, a ballroom, and more.

Margaritaville in Galveston is a collaboration between development firm RREAF Holdings, LLC and Innisfree Hotels.

“The City of Galveston staff has been great to work with and we are looking forward to continuing the relationship as we develop this world-class project on Galveston Beach,” said Carl Schwab, President of RREAF Development Services, in a release sent out on Tuesday. “Once we break ground in early 2024, our teams will work diligently to build and execute a resort that meets consumer demand in Galveston.”

But don't make those plans just yet. Construction isn't expected to be completed until between 2026 and 2028.

But that’s enough with the words. Here’s an idea of what it’ll look like.

Concern over 'ghost wolves' in Galveston with Margaritaville coming

KHOU 11 reported about how some people feared construction of Margaritaville will threaten the island's 'ghost wolf' population. Ghost wolves are coyotes with red wolf DNA. They're nearly extinct. Earlier this month, some residents gathered at Moody Gardens auditorium to voice their concerns.

“We’re not trying to kill development," Galveston wildlife photographer Ron Wooten said in the story that ran on Jan. 10. "We’re just asking for some consideration be given, “
