CAYCE, S.C. — Friday was your last chance to vote early in Lexington County municipal elections, which includes voting for Cayce mayor.
Two candidates are vying for the mayor seat in the City of Cayce: Incumbent Elise Partin and Lexington School District Two board member Abbott, otherwise known as "Tre" Bray.
"I'm honored to get to serve my city. I'd like to be able to continue to do that because together we've done a lot of great work," Partin said.
"About a year ago, I had a fair amount of, and a diverse amount of people ask me had I ever considered running for mayor," Bray said.
Partin tells News 19 her focus in a new term would be making the city more bike able and walkable and preserving the historic elements of Cayce.
"We've got more sidewalks coming. We have a sidewalk study that we just completed and we have some grant money for adding sidewalks already onto Frink Street and Julius Felder," Partin said.
Bray explains he would prioritize reducing taxes, building better relationships with businesses and surrounding municipalities, and establishing better communication with city leaders.
"Some of the areas that we really want to look is we want to be able to have parks where families, young families are coming. You cannot go one block in this city without seeing 15 dogs, but we don't have a dog park, so trying to really modernize our parks to what the people need," Bray said.
