COLUMBIA, S.C. (WLTX) -- Recorded phone conversations between Interim Columbia Police Chief Ruben Santiago and former police captain Dave Navarro have been released.

Last year, Navarro made allegations against Interim Chief Santiago, saying Santiago wanted him to plant a gun and drugs inside a city employee's car. Monday, a special prosecutor said there wasn't enough evidence to prosecute anyone in the so-called "Columbia Black Ops" investigation.

[ID=5856695]City officials say Navarro was ultimately fired for recording phone calls between himself and Santiago without permission. The 20-minute long conversation is laced with profanities from both men. In it, they discuss Navarro's place within the police department. Nothing illegal stands out from the tapes.

There are other taped conversations, and News19 is in the process of listening to them, one by one.
