SUMTER, S.C. — Sumter Police said the missing teenage girl had been found safe as of 11:30 p.m., Wednesday.
The department had previously asked for the public's help to find a missing teen last seen on Wednesday morning.
Police said the 16-year-old was last seen at about 8 a.m. Wednesday while leaving for school.
A text message later indicated she was with family in Florence. However, those family members had not seen her.
