Mother speaks after son's remains found

Morgan Duncan, 28, was reported missing last November. Now, more than 200 days later, his family can say goodbye.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — LaTanza Duncan sat in her home Monday night looking through photos of her son, Morgan Duncan, as she and her family plan his funeral service,

Seven months after his disappearance.

"We can get it done within the next week or so. That's our goal," LaTanza said. "I wrote this obituary. It's the hardest thing I've ever had to do, but it's done. I brought him into this world, and I want to help lower him back to the earth. I don't know what it'll give me, but it's just something that I feel like every mother if you're in this situation, and I don't wish this on anyone, but perhaps it will help somehow."

Morgan Duncan, 28,  went missing in late November of last year.

His body was found Monday morning by a person walking through the woods off Springbank Drive near the Richland County Northeast Library.

Although Morgan's body had not been found until now, two people have already been arrested and charged in connection with his death.

"I don't know how I'm going to sleep tonight," LaTanza said.

According to the family, Morgan was a devoted dad to a 4-year-old daughter, a son, and a friend to many.

As the family continues to recover from losing Morgan, they are welcoming prayers and support from the community.

"I'm on here to say, please don't forget my son. Please don't forget his daughter, and help make me the last person you see crying on television about losing a child in this manner," LaTanza said.

The family hopes to have a funeral with a choir and a ceremony to honor Morgan within the next week.
