GREENVILLE, S.C. — For many families this week was filled with joy and celebration, but for one it's just a reminder of their tragic loss.

At 18 years old, Udeh Joshua Osuagwu was on his way to graduate high school, until one night changed everything.

Greenville police found Osuagwu with a gunshot wound inside his home at Waterside Greene Apartment Homes on May 11. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.

It was the city's first murder of 2019, and police say it was a robbery turned violent. Five suspects reportedly believed Osuagwu had a large amount of cash, and orchestrated a plan to rob him. However, media outlets report shots were fired when no one in the apartment complied.

According to Greenville News, the suspects learned of the money through Osuagwu's social media post showing stacks of money.

All five suspects are now under arrest and facing several charges.

Darius Antonia J’quan Rhodes, 18; Natasha Nicole Booker, 17; Tommy Lee Long, 21; and Jaylan Horatio Marques Fair, 24; are charged with murder, first-degree burglary, armed robbery, kidnapping, first-degree assault and battery, criminal conspiracy and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Jevonda Lenae Dillard, 17, was also arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to felony murder.

More arrests are possible in this case as the investigation continues.
