COLUMBIA, S.C. — The group behind a new mixed-use development in Richland County is releasing additional details about the project.
South Carolina State Senator Darrell Jackson (D) represents District 21 and said The Station at Congaree Pointe project is a perfect example of city, county, and state governments all coming together.
“This is a transformational project for Columbia, for Richland County, and particularly for the Bluff Road corridor,” Jackson said.
The first phase of the project is being built near the intersection of Bluff and Atlas Roads. The goal of the project is to enhance the lives of everyone in the area.
“This project will involve a primary healthcare center, with OBGYN, pediatric, dental and behavioral health, as well as a pharmacy. It will also have a marketplace which will be a 15,000 square foot building that will provide fresh foods, vegetables, fruit and other things to the public,” Jackson explained.
Local governments and law enforcement will also open facilities.
“It will include a new municipal court building from the City of Columbia. The Richland County Sheriff’s Department will have a location there, as well as the City of Columbia Police Department,” he said.
The development will also include five shared commercial kitchens, secure parking and disposal options for food trucks and a restaurant space to support food entrepreneurs.
Senator Jackson said construction will start just after the new year.
“We are expecting construction on the first project to begin February of 2025. We are really, really excited about what we think this does for the City of Columbia, Richland County, and the State of South Carolina,” he said.
Developers said they hope the project not only reenergizes the Bluff Road area, but also encourages other private investors to bring projects to Southeast Richland County.
