ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. — One person is dead after an accident on I-26 Eastbound on Wednesday afternoon, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Troopers say the accident happened at 2:24 pm Wednesday on I-26 Eastbound at the 161 mile marker, approximately 8 miles north of Bowman.
According to troopers, both a 2018 cement truck and a 1986 Mercedes coupe were traveling east when they collided.
The driver of the Mercedes, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was transported to an area hospital where they later died.
The driver of the cement truck, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was not injured.
The accident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
