ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. — One person died after an accident on I-26 on Wednesday afternoon, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Troopers say the accident happened at 2:24 p.m. Wednesday on I-26 Eastbound at the 161-mile marker, approximately eight miles north of Bowman.
Troopers said a 2018 cement truck and a 1986 Mercedes coupe were traveling east when they collided.
The driver of the Mercedes, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was transported to an area hospital, where they later died. The cement truck driver, who was the vehicle's sole occupant, was not injured.
The accident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
