One dead in car accident in Lexington, say troopers

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol the accident happened a little after noon near Swansea.

LEXINGTON, S.C. — One person is dead after an afternoon car wreck in Lexington county. 

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol Master Trooper William Bennett, the accident happened a little after noon when a 1996 Nissan pickup truck was heading north on Whetstone road.  This about four miles south of the town of Swansea.

Troopers say the driver ran off the road, over corrected, ran off the other side of the road, hit a tree and turned over.   The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

No word yet from the Lexington coroner on the name of the person. 

The accident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
