COLUMBIA, S.C. — An Orangeburg County man was arrested in connection to a shooting that occurred over the July 4th weekend.

Sheriff Leroy Ravenell says that 46-year-old Bobby Anthony II, from Vance, has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Ravenell said that Orangeburg County Sheriff’s investigators were called to the regional Medical Center after receiving word of a shooting.

The 49-year-old victim told authorities that he had attempted to break up a fight at A Good Farm Road location, near Holly Hill, when one of the two antagonists pulled out a handgun and fired.

“The victim in this case wasn’t even involved in the initial argument,” Ravenell said. “He was just trying to break up the fight and got shot for his trouble.”

The gunshot victim was treated for injuries at a local hospital, and Anthony was treated for extensive injuries received during the fight. After his release from the hospital, Anthony was arrested and charged.

Bond has been set at $15,000.
