Orangeburg, SC (WLTX) - People in the Orangeburg community say they are concerned after inmates escaped from a detention center.
As Joshoa Nelson casts his line out to fish, he's thinking about his family after inmates escaped from the Orangeburg County Detention Center.
"I’m trying to figure out how they got out. They've been accused of murder so making sure everything is secure and to make sure the doors are locked. If they want to go outside, I'm outside with them, and keeping a close eye on people," said Nelson.
While 27-year-old Christopher Shannon Boltin was captured by Lexington Police Sunday night, police are still looking for 20-year-old Curtis Ray Green and 27-year-old Tyshon Demontrea Johnson.
Renorta and Curtis Wilson live in Orangeburg and they say they're being cautious everywhere they go.
"Orangeburg, you don't know what's going on in the city. You never know," said Curtis.
"It’s crazy. They could be gone. They could be right here. Who knows? They say they're armed and dangerous. You never know what can happen. How did that happen? How did they miss that? Maybe more security or something," explained Renorta.
Many in the community talked to News 19 about security and said things need to be improved. Most say that some of the problem to not having enough guards in jail and prison facilities.
Law enforcement are not saying where they are searching at this time so they don't let the suspects know where they're looking for them.
"I pray that they catch them and put them where they need to be,” said Renorta.
Orangeburg Consolidated School District 3 and 4 and Orangeburg School District 5 said that the school schedules remained normal. Orangeburg Consolidated School District 3 said they added extra patrol officers around their schools.
