COLUMBIA, S.C. — Jennifer Kroening has the kind of life story that makes you sit up and listen to her. She's battled and beat cancer twice, the first time when she was 15 years old and diagnosed with leukemia. The second fight for her life would come more than 25 years later when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Kroening says she noticed something that felt unusual in June of 2021. After a series of doctors appointments and diagnostic tests doctors confirmed in October the lump she was feeling was breast cancer. At that time Kroening was 40 years old and did not have a family history of breast cancer.
Kroening says laughter, her faith, family and a desire to help others going through the same diagnosis has been the best medicine for her. She's chronicled her journey and offers support through her Facebook page called Jennifer's Journey.
Healthcare providers agree that early detection is the key to saving your life when it comes to breast cancer. Remember to talk with your doctor about your family history and the right time for you to begin your annual mammogram.
